We are using our unique expression system to make active recombinant human CYP51. This enzyme has now been incorporated into a newly developed quick, cost-effective, fluorescence-based CYP51 inhibition screen. As many fungicidal and anti-parasitic drugs target the pathogen CYP51 it is important to screen new compounds for activity against the human enzyme to flag the possibility of crossover inhibition which may lead to unwanted side effects.  Details were presented at the ISSX meeting in Portland, the poster can be downloaded here
