It’s that time of year again. The time for summer holidays, exam results, unpredictable Scottish weather and the ISSX conference. For the past 20 years I’ve attended the annual ISSX conference, and this year I travelled to Portland, Oregon in the USA.

The International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX) brings together a network of academic and industry research scientists and future scientists in toxicology, pharmacology, molecular biology and other disciplines related to the study of xenobiotics.

Xenobiotics is a niche market and there are limited opportunities to network, so I look forward to this annual event to meet like-minded people, and it’s always enjoyable to catch up with clients and peers from across the world.  There is also a full programme of keynote speakers, lectures and focus groups over the weeklong event.

This year, I was proud to attend the event with our new-look Cypex brand. We have invested in developing our website and marketing materials, and I received several positive comments about our new look.  I was delighted at the number of people who visited our stand to discuss specific project requirements as well as our range of off-the-shelf products.

The ISSX is always a highlight of my summer schedule, and I look forward to attending next year… not least as the event will be held in Hawaii in October and Geneva in June!
